Grassfed Beef & Greens Burger

One of our family’s favorite meals is ground beef hamburgers with plenty of fresh greens. We eat burgers many nights per week, and everyone loves them. To keep from getting bored, I like to mix things up by adding different flavors and nutrients to the mix.

You will never see me make a burger without some form of dark greens involved. This is because I crave the two together. Grass-fed beef and dark leafy greens are timeless lovers. The perfect couple, green & beef power pack nutrients and satisfaction with relative ease. Whether it’s steak and spinach, ribs & arugula, or burgers with kale, I take my love for this combo seriously and give it my regular devotion.

  • 1 lb grass-fed beef
  • 2 TBS butter
  • 1 handful washed, fresh cilantro or fresh basil – cut into thin 1/4 inch strips
  • 2 handfuls {1 cup} – washed, fresh kale, spinach or arugula – cut into 1/4 inch strips
  • 1 egg yolk from pastured chickens (optional)
  • sea salt & pepper to taste

  1. Place beef in a large glass mixing bowl
  2. Add optiona.l egg yolk, salt, pepper, and fresh herbs & greens
  3. Use freshly washed hands to fully mix together
  4. Sautee in a pan in the 2 TBS butter, turn when browned
  5. Remove from heat, top with cultured ketchup, side with homemade sauerkraut, and serve! We enjoy ours topped with bacon.

Will make 4 quarter-pound burgers. Double entire recipe to serve 4 & have leftovers.
